James Corke (42) made such a nuisance of himself at FVRH staff felt the need to contact Police Scotland, but when they arrived the man who earlier threatened to put security staff on their “backsides” was snoring in bed.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, Corke, 133 Overton Crescent, Denny, had already pled guilty to behaving in a threatening manner at FVRH on March 30 last year.

Rachel Wallace, procurator fiscal depute, said: “During the evening the accused was taken to FVRH by ambulance. Upon arrival the accused refused to sit down. He continued to try and lean as attending staff were trying to assist and assess him.

“He became verbally abusive and threatened two security officers saying ‘back off or I’ll put youse on your backsides’ while he was clenching his fists. Witnesses told him if he didn’t settle down police would be called to which he replied ‘well get them then’.

“When police arrived they found the accused asleep on a hospital bed. He was left in the care of medical staff in order to be assessed.”

The court heard Corke’s sister had passed away during the summer and he was now doing his best to stay away from alcohol.

Sheriff Derek Livingston said: “This court hears far too much about people taking up hospital staff’s time up in this manner.”

He placed Corke on a restriction of liberty order to remain in his home between 7pm and 7am for the next two months.
