Couple were ambushed

An offender attacked his former partner and her new man because of his associates, a court heard.

George Wallace (34) lay in wait for the two of them and then carried out his attack in front of his three-year-old son who was with his former partner at the time.

Wallace, 83 James Street, Stenhousemuir, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, having previously pled guilty to the assaults he committed in Linlithgow Place, Stenhousemuir on June 19.

Gavin Whyte, procurator fiscal depute, said: “It was 7.05pm and as the witness unlocked the door he was ambushed by the accused who charged at them from the rear gate.

“He barged past the woman and her three-year-old son and grabbed the man and threw him to the ground and punched him on the head several times. The woman grabbed the accused and pulled him off the witness.

“The accused then punched her on her arm.”

Wallace’s former partner then called the police, with him begging her not too and then he ran off when she did.

He later handed himself in at Falkirk Police Station.

The court heard Wallace had a lengthy record.

Defence solicitor Martin Morrow said: “He and his former partner have got a three-year-old son together. He thought it was better she not have anything to do with her new partner.”

Sheriff Derek Livingston sentenced Wallace to ten months in prison.
