Cars stolen in Falkirk and Bonnybridge by man who sold them on

Three cars went missing in the Bonnybridge and Falkirk areas in the space of a few days and then all turned up for sale at a garage.

Bernard McDonagh (24) appeared from custody via video link at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, having pleaded guilty to the three car thefts he committed in Broomhill Road, Bonnybridge, Teviot Street, Falkirk and Bridge Street, Bonnybridge on July 7, 2018.

The court heard McDonagh, who had a drug problem, delivered the three cars – which had all been parked and secured in streets and car parks by their rightful owners – to a garage and the owner paid him a total of £900 in good faith for the vehicles.

Sheriff Christopher Shead placed McDonagh, Stirling Council Pitch 9, Bridgend Caravan Park, Craigforth, Stirling, on a supervised community payback order for 12 months with the condition he complete 150 hours unpaid work in that time.
