Janey Baillie (45) appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having pleaded guilty to sending the threatening messages between October 27 and November 2, 2019.

Nhabeela Ruhmatullah, procurator fiscal depute, said: “On October 22 the witness’s son was named as responsible for an assault on the accused and her brother. Then on October 27 the witness received a message from the accused stating ‘Believe me, it’s far from finished. I’m coming for you and if they try it again, believe me, you won’t leave the house alive’.

"Messages were sent back and forth and an argument ensued. The accused then sent a mess stating ‘Karma’s a bitch – what goes around comes around, so you and your bastard boy better look over your shoulders for the foreseeable’.

"The witness contacted police and the accused told them ‘I wouldn’t have done anything about it – they were empty threats.”

Defence solicitor Stephen Biggam said the complainer’s son had kicked down the door of Baillie’s house and attack both her and her brother with a hammer.

He added: “She is struggling with a diazepam problem and there have been ups and downs along the way.”
