Camelon teen walloped female pupil on the way home from school

A violent teenager punched one girl on the head and slapped another before heading into his parent’s house as youths gathered outside.

The 17-year-old boy’s parents were forced to call the police as youngsters gathered outside their home and the officers found out about the teenager’s assaults against the two girls.

The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday having admitted the attacks he carried out in Wall Street, Camelon, on January 21.

He also pled guilty to breaching his curfew – to stay in his Camelon home between the hours of 7pm and 7am – on January 22 and June 6.

Procurator fiscal depute Sean Maher said: “The accused was in Wall Street and there were four other persons present. He approached on of these individuals and punched her once to the side of the head.

“A further individual said he was out of order and shouldn’t be hitting girls. Then a further altercation took place and he struck out, slapping another individual. The matter was brought to the attention of police and the accused was spoken to and taken to Falkirk police station.

“He told officers ‘I just shoved her to get her out of the way’.”

The court heard the teenager had “gone off the rails” during the course of this year.

Murray Aitken, defence solicitor, said: “These other individuals are in the same year as he is at school and were walking home from school at the time. They approached him and asked him why he had assaulted someone else at the weekend.

“It’s the complainer who has instigated the confrontation. This group then chased him to his home address. It was his parents who contacted the police because there people outside their property causing a disturbance.”

It was stated one of the breaches of curfew was caused by the teenager’s “poor timekeeping”.

Sheriff Christopher Shead said: “There is a lot of offending here.”

He placed the youngster on a supervised community payback order for 12 months with the condition he complete 250 hours unpaid work within that period.
