Daniel Rodger (28) made a series of sinister threats to his ex-partner, including telling her he would slash her “up and down” so her children would no longer have a mum, her house would be blown up and she would have acid thrown in her face.

Appearing from custody at Falkirk Sheriff Court via a video link from Low Moss Prison earlier today, Rodger, Bo’ness, had pled guilty to the threatening behaviour offences he committed between February 9 and February 14.

Claire Bremner, procurator fiscal depute, said when his victim disagreed with Rodger’s “methods of chastisement of her children”, he “coerced” her into making a statement, which he recorded, stating he had never hit the youngsters.

He then locked her in her own bathroom and told her “I'll slash you up and down and the weans won't have a mum” unless she recorded the statement.

Ms Bremner said the woman then sent Rodger a message on February 9 telling him their relationship was over, and he collected his belongings the next day.

However, within hours he was bombarding her with messages asking why she was “ignoring” him and demanding money he claimed she owed him.

He texted: “If you aint got my money you'll get done, and petrol will be going through the door so you get back to no house. You know I've got people to do it for me so think carefully.

“I'm not going with someone who patches me for nothing. Make up lies about me and it's war.”

Ms Bremner said the woman informed Rodger she had phoned the police, and he responded “I'll blow your house right up, I'm no’ joking. I've tried everything to be civil. What's your problem? You're just trying to bump me.”

The depute fiscal said Rodger then threatened to disclose another video he had recorded of the woman during the course of their relationship saying, “just be civil or I'll be putting your vid up.”

The woman told Rodger again the police had been phoned, and he responded “If I'm going to jail, I swear to God I'll be up tonight. No more house, trust me.”"

Officers raced to the woman's house in, Bo'ness at 1.30pm on February 12.

Ms Bremner said: “While they were there, the accused sent the complainer a message threatening to throw acid in her face.”

Rodger handed himself in at Falkirk Police Station on February 14, was arrested, and appeared in private on petition at Falkirk Sheriff Court later the same day.

Ms Bremner said: “Told by the presiding sheriff he was to be remanded in custody he became aggressive and as he was led from the courtroom he shouted, 'When I get out I'm going to shoot her'.”

Defence solicitor Victoria Good said Rodger “regrets entirely” his behaviour towards the victim.

She added: “He accepts he really went far too far.”

Referring to the incident in court, she added: “He had taken copious amounts of Valium before handing himself into the police and it was still in his system when he appeared in court.

“He can't even remember being here.”

Sheriff Derek Hamilton jailed Rodger for 27 months and imposed a three year non-harassment order, forbidding him from contacting his victim or entering her street.

He added Rodger had “a number of previous convictions for violence” including assault and robbery with a handgun and was clearly someone who was familiar with weapons.

He said: “You made significant and sinister threats over a prolonged period.”
