Body recovered near Larbert Viaduct

A body has been recovered after a search for a missing person which began last night.

All the emergency services were involved in the overnight hunt which eventually led them to the River Carron near Larbert Viaduct.

It is understood the man in his sixties was from Falkirk and the alarm had been raised after he failed to return from a fishing trip.

Last night and this morning the police helicopter helped the search parties on the ground.

A police spokesperson said: “"Around 9.50am on Thursday, July30, police recovered the body of a man in his sixties from the riverbanks of the River Carron, Larbert."There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
