Bainsford man jailed following chainsaw theft in New Carron

A man has been jailed after he admitted trying to break into vehicles and stealing a chainsaw.

Robert Robertson (45), 64 Haugh Street, Bainsford, was caught trying car door handles in Stephen’s Croft, New Carron in the early hours of Saturday morning.

CCTV of Robertson was recovered after police were alerted.

Officers on patrol on Monday morning encountered him again in Stephen’s Croft, where he had stolen a chainsaw from a vehicle.

Robertson appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday and pled guilty to intended theft and the theft of the chainsaw.

He was sentenced to 290 days’ imprisonment.
