A man accused of the attempted murder of his former partner appeared in court today.

Mark McArthur (23), from Falkirk, made no plea or declaration to the charge after appearing in private earlier this afternoon.

He was remanded in custody until the date of his next hearing, which is still to be confirmed.

Mr McArthur is accused of attacking a 22-year-old woman on Sunday, August 23 in the Falkirk area.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
