ASBO Man accused of threatening to chop up his partner

Robert Hay (32) is said to have been the subject of an Anti-social Behaviour Order (ASBO) on April 29 prohibiting him from playing loud music, shouting, swearing, screaming and slamming doors, or behaving anti-socially towards any person so as to cause them alarm or distress.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court today, Hay faced charges of breaching this order on various occasions between May 1 and August 29 by acting in a threatening and intimidating manner – threatening to kill and chop up and dispose of his partner in a freezer at their home in Grangemouth.

He is also accused of behaving in an abusive manner towards her by making the same threats, and also throwing a bottle at a wall and punching a door, and assaulting her by repeatedly seizing her by the throat, holding a knife against her throat, and threatening to kill her.

Hay, of Chisholm Place, Grangemouth, pled not guilty to all three charges.

His solicitor Simon Hutchison said the defence was ready for trial.

Sheriff Craig Caldwell continued the case for trial by jury in a sitting starting on Monday, November 21.
