An angry heroin addict lashed out at the former friend she believed stole £200 from her.

Catherine Maloney (35) attacked Jennifer Jones in the street and then ran after her into a nearby pharmacy where she continued to push and kick her.

Maloney, 159 Bowhouse Road, Grangemouth, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last week having previously pled guilty to the assault she committed at Callendar Pharmacy, High Street, Falkirk, on September 25 and possessing 10.6 grams, worth £1060, of class A drug methadone in Newmarket Street, Falkirk, on June 13.

Samantha Brown, procurator fiscal depute, said: “The complainer was walking towards the pharmacy when the accused grabbed the handle of her bag.

“The complainer ran towards the pharmacy and the accused pursued her inside, pushing her to the floor and kicking her on the body.

“A member of staff intervened and then called the police.”

Defence solicitor Simon Hutchison said: “The victim also has a drug problem and my client found she was missing £200. Miss Jones admitted she had taken it.

“This lady had stolen £200 from her and she felt aggrieved.”

Sheriff Linda Smith placed Maloney on a supervised community payback order for two years with the condition she undertake drug treatment.
