Could you offer a home to children?

Falkirk Council needs new foster carers to come forward to look after children for anything from a few days to, weeks, months or even years depending on their circumstances.

Existing foster carers and social workers will be on hand to talk through the application process, relate their real life experiences and explain the support, training, and payments involved.

Carers are needed from across the Falkirk area who can offer a home to local children of all ages, but particularly teenagers and sibling groups.

Councillor Linda Gow, spokesperson for Health and Social Care, said: “Fostering children and young people has proven to be a life changing decision both for the foster carers and for those they care for. It can be challenging but the comprehensive and ongoing support you receive throughout your period as a carer ensures that you are fully equipped to cope with everything that can happen.

“The information evening is a relaxed and informal way of hearing first-hand what it is like to be a foster carer and what is involved.”

Applications are are welcomed from people from any race or religion; single people, or couples of any sexual orientation; people who are in work or unemployed; people with children of their own and people who don’t have children of their own.
