Core cops get drugs and weapons off Grangemouth streets
Part of the Forth Valley-wide Operation Core, last weekend’s patrols were carried out by members of Grangemouth community police team and officers from the violence reduction unit.
Foot and cycle patrols around the area saw 10 people caught carrying drugs – including heroin, cannabis and amphetamines and a further three arrests were made after people committed disorder offences.

Hide AdSergeant Craig Heron, of the community police team, said: “Local officers are dedicated to keeping Grangemouth a safe place to live, work and socialise. It is imperative we take action against those who carry and supply drugs in our communities.”
Another patrol resulted in two 15-year-old males being arrested for carrying weapons in public.
PC Sarah Whelan said: “Police Scotland is committed to tackling knife crime and violence. A zero tolerance approach will be taken and any person found in possession of a knife or other weapon will be arrested.
“We also work closely with our partners in education and social services to ensure that young persons are engaged with, support offered and educated as to the dangers associated with the carrying of weapons.

Hide Ad“The vast majority of young persons are responsible citizens who contribute to their communities. Sadly, a small minority continue to cause problems in the area which impacts on the people who live there.”
