Chance to be a lifesaver in Denny

Denny District Community Council Neighbourhood Watch is hosting a workshop for people to learn CPR as part of the British Heart Foundation’s Call Push Rescue training kit, which fire stations across the country now have.

It takes just 45 minutes to learn CPR through the kit and Denny fire station will act as a base for local people who want to learn vital CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) skills and potentially save someone’s life if they go into cardiac arrest.

Denny firefighter Darren Ryan said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is proud to be working in partnership with the BHF in a bid to help train as many people as possible in the use of CPR across Scotland.

“When someone goes into cardiac arrest their heart is not pumping properly and every second counts. But performing immediate CPR, as part of the chain of survival, can keep oxygen circulating around the body until the arrival of medical professionals or a defibrillator.
