When first-time mum Eilidh McKenzie realised her baby was due in late April, she knew there was a chance her child could share her birthday on May 3.
But her baby Sorcha Cowan decided she wanted to share her special day with one of the world’s most famous children - HRH Princess Charlotte.
Sorcha was one of five babies born at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert on Saturday, May 2 to parents from the Falkirk Council area.
They included two girls who are both very much royal princesses to their delighted mums and dads.
Eilidh, a therapy counsellor, didn’t quite have an easy a time as Kate when her labour kicked in on Saturday.
Sorcha had to be delivered by emergency Caesarean section, but arrived safely at 8.33 p.m. - almost exactly 12 hours after the princess - weighing 6lb 8.5oz.
Eilidh (37), from Oliver Road, said: “My birthday is May 3 and I thought she could have the same birthday as me, but instead she wanted the same as the princess.”
The second of the girls to arrive at 10.56 p.m., was Tess Elizabeth Rennie who weighed 8lb 12oz.
She’s a daughter for Lynsey Hunter and John Rennie (49) of Comely Park Terrace, and a little sister for Finlay (5).
Tess is also a step sister for Niamh (12), Freya (8) and Aoife (7) Rennie.
Lynsey (35) said: “To be born the same day as the princess is really nice, it’s lovely.”
Other Falkirk babies who share the birthday include Jacob Eric Anthony McIntosh born at 10.46 a.m., weighing 8lb 15.5oz. He’s a first for Deborah Rintoul (26) and Ross McIntosh (27) of The Maltings.
Archie David Haney was born at 12.22 p.m. weighing 7lb 8oz.
He’s a first for Pauline (27) and George Haney (28) of Dunipace.
And Clem Alexander Alan Davidson arrived at 1.28 p.m. weighing 6lb 13.5oz, a son for Polmont’s Kelly Martin (29) and Iain Davidson (29), and a brother for Liam Davidson (8).
