The People and Communities Fund will give projects in the Falkirk area a boost in 2016/17.

These include Citizens Advice Bureau (Grangemouth and Bo’ness); Re-Union Canal Boats; and Link Living programmes, Step On and Step Up, which help young people into employment.

Housing and Welfare Minister Margaret Burgess said:“The People and Communities Fund recognises that every community in Scotland has different needs and challenges and it is the people who live and work in Falkirk that are best placed to come up with the solutions to address inequalities.”

Bield Housing, which received £75,000, provides quality housing and care to older people.

Kevin Rowe, fundraiser at Bield, said: “The grant, which matches the amount we received last year, has helped us enhance and enrich the lives of people who use our services across Scotland.

“There are many individuals at all of our developments who work hard to enable such positive projects and there was a lot of excitement at the announcement of this funding.

“It is vitally important that older people in this country have access to fulfilling and beneficial projects and this is very much in keeping with Bield’s ‘free to be’ ethos.

“We can’t wait to see the positive impact the funding will have.”
