Cash boost for canal college plan in Falkirk
The pioneering skills training programme received a boost of £21,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund with support from Scottish Canals.
The development funding will enable the Trust to create plans for canal college 2, which will open once again in Falkirk in 2017 if the full £1.4 million in funding can be secured.

SWT aims to reach out to over 360 unemployed people through expanding the programme length, increasing the number of locations where the heritage skills and employability training course is offered and by extending the age criteria to 16 to 30-year-olds.
Karen Moore, SWT chief executive said: “If we secure funding for canal college 2, we will be able to help twice as many young unemployed adults who have faced serious barriers in their life, whether learning or behavioural difficulties or chaotic home lives.”
