Thanks to everyone who came along to the September Independent Living Cafe in the Sensory Centre, Camelon. The cakes were lovely! The ILA Cafe is open to anyone with an assessed need from Social Work and anyone with an interest in disability. The next cafe is on today (Thursday) in the Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Camelon from 12.30-2 p.m. Now that the Referendum is over, there will be plenty to talk about. Come along and enjoy a light lunch, meet old friends, make new ones and give us your opinion. Due to rising costs, we are having to charge £2 per lunch. Our Harvest service is this Sunday, October 5, at which we will be doing a special collection for Foodbank, so bring a tin or a packet! There will also be a light lunch provided after our service. Please join us with our Harvest celebrations. Everyone is welcome!
Koffee Time meets from 10 a.m. till noon today (Thursday). We are happy to report progress in the hall kitchen with the new decor even if the Thought for the Day returns to ‘auld claes and porridge’! A number of our regulars come from beyond Camelon so folk from round the district can be assured of a welcome. On Sunday, October 5 our Breaking of Bread Service and refreshments will be followed at 11.50 a.m. by the Bible Teaching. The expected speaker is George Taylor from Peterhead - always worth hearing. At 3 p.m. that afternoon we have a short service in Summerford House with the residents there. On Tuesday, October 7 we meet with pupils from P4-7 in Carmuirs Primary at lunch time for the new lunch club that continues in the capable hands of Dave. So soon we find ourselves approaching the October Holiday Week. That evening Jim McNinch will lead us in our study of Paul’s second letter to Timothy. There is an open invitation to all to attend these sessions. Course books are provided. Advance notice is given of our first Saturday night rally on October 11 at 7 p.m. Further details to follow in next week’s Herald.
Tickets for the presentation dance on Saturday, October 18 are going well. Please phone Jim on 625203 or pop into the club to book your tickets. A wild bird feeding station has been erected at the club and any donations of seeds and nuts would be welcome. Loads of work around the club is ongoing as we prepare for winter, if you can spare a couple of hours a week please see Ian Stewart for a wee job.

Bingo sessions every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday starting at around 7.30 p.m. At Tuesday’s session tea, coffee or juice can be obtain, together with cakes and biscuits, for a small donation. Entertainment on Friday, October 3 is by female vocalist Joanne Bence. There is Bingo starting at around 7.30 p.m. until around 8.30 p.m. The show starts at 9.15 p.m. Prize bingo on Tuesday, October 7, starting at 7.15 p.m. Tickets are £1 or you can pay at the door. The winner of the weekly draw in aid of Camelon Juniors FC was Shaun Currie, who won the Consolation prize of £50. Ticket was sold at Tesco, Camelon. Next week’s jackpot will be £750.
