Port will welcome apprentices

Forth Ports is building towards a bright future as it launches its first Modern Apprentice Programme in Scotland.

A specialist work wear provider has picked up a local government award for its top quality protective clothing.

Lion Safety, in Inchyra Road, Grangemouth, secured a Scotland Excel award at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall recently.

The firm, which supplies Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), corporate clothing and work wear to UK councils and industry, captured the Excellence in Customer Support title and was also highly commended in the Cost Saving Excellence category.

The awards recognised the company’s customer-focused approach to providing high quality work wear and solutions tailored to customer requirements. The company was praised for working openly and honestly with its customers, maintaining ethical supply chains, and saving customers time and money through personalised packaging and delivery logistics.

A 17-strong judging panel of procurement experts, elected members and industry representatives from across Scotland were involved in shortlisting 29 finalists from a total of 61 entries.

Lion Safety sales director Roger Lewis said: “Everyone at Lion Safety recognises customers are at the heart of our business. We look for and encourage innovation within all business processes to offer a first class experience for customers.

“The recognition by Scotland Excel demonstrates our commitment to being a company that councils and industry across the UK can rely on.”

Scotland Excel is the centre of procurement expertise for the local government sector in Scotland.

A non-profit making organisation funded by all 32 local authorities, it was established in 2008 with a remit to work in collaboration with members and suppliers to raise procurement standards.
