The soaring rise in the popularity of dogs as the latest fashion accessory has led to a business opportunity for a Falkirk woman.
Ambitious Adrienne Hammond was brought up with dogs as family pets and hoping to put that experience to good use by opening the first boutique in Falkirk to cater for their every need.
At UpTown Pups in Wooer Street discerning owners will find everything they could ever dream of to keep their favourite pampered pooch presented in the very latest fashions.
Forget just the ‘basics’ like collars and leads - UpTown Pups offers some serious options when it comes to ensuring their four-legged friends are dressed to impress every time they go ‘walkies’.
Bespoke coats in various designs are only the start. There is also a huge range of other outfits to suit every occasion to choose from - including jackets and dresses - and even tutu’s and bikinis!
The opportunity to show off their pet in the latest designer outfits has caught the imagination of the dog owning public and demand has never been higher.
Adrienne (33), who owns two young Pugs, Arnie and Boo, who is about to launch a range of clothing and other top-of-the-range goods on-line at www.uptownpups.co.uk said: “It’s already a massive business in other parts of the UK and now beginning to take off here in Scotland too.
“Dog owners are very loving and caring people and really want to have their pets well dressed and well presented when they are out together. They all want to put on a bit of a show, just like a mum with a baby in a pram.
“With the opening of The Helix Park and Falkirk Wheel there are now even more nice places to take your dog for a walk and owners want their pets to look their best when they are out and about.”
