A post office is proposing to move to a modern location and extend its opening times by more than 67 hours per week.
Avonbridge Post Office has launched a six-week consultation to find out if the plans to move the branch by 70 metres along Main Street are well received.
The idea is to create an open plan local branch with longer opening hours and it would be located at Premier, Avonbridge Market, at 64 Main Street.
Regional manager Suzanne Richardson said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Avonbridge and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 6am-9pm Monday to Thursday, 6am-9.30pm on Friday and Saturday and 7am-8pm on Sunday.
This would mean the Post Office is open for 104 hours per week, an increase of 67 hours.
Feedback from customers is being sought until the consultation closes on Thursday, September 10.
