Leading wholesale butchers Malcolm Allan teamed up with Tesco to deliver some festive cheer to Scottish soldiers.
The Larbert-based supplier was happy to donate 100 of its famous steak pies to treat members of The Highlanders, 4th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland based at Bourlon Barracks outside Catterick, North Yorkshire.
Director Gordon Allan said: “We were more than happy to provide the pies and send the troops a message of support at the same time. Tesco did a fantastic job to make it happen.”
It is not only the soldiers who will be tucking into the firm’s famous product this Christmas.
Demand has been so high the business has taken on 20 temporary staff to keep the deliveries flowing.
The extra help has allowed a backshift to be introduced on the run-up to December 25 as the business deals with a 500 per cent increase in steak pie sales.
Over the festive period it expects to sell over 500,000 pies to Scotland’s leading retailers.
