Over 100 jobs are to be created at Falkirk bus builder Alexander Dennis Limited.
The Camelon-based company is to receive a £7.3 million Scottish Enterprise grant to boost production of its low carbon vehicles to take advantage of the growing global demand for hybrid and electric buses.
News of the grant - the largest of its type ever to be awarded in Scotland - was confirmed ahead of a visit to the factory by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today.
ADL is the UK’s largest bus builder and intends to double its turnover by 2020.
Ms Sturgeon said ADL was a “true Scottish success story” and added: “This new grant funding will create 101 new jobs and secure a further 126 jobs in ADL’s low carbon vehicles project.”
Falkirk Councillor Dennis Goldie, spokesperson for Economic Development, said: “Alexander Dennis is a great example of how a traditional firm can transform itself using new technology to become a world class operation.”
