A car salesman has retired after almost 40 years in the job.

Jim Robertson worked at Priory garage in Beancross Road, Grangemouth, which became Arnold Clark Renault 13 years ago.

The 71-year-old from the town now plans to spend more time following the Scotland football team round the world.

Jim said: “I’ve really enjoyed it here. Lots of people have been asking if I’m looking forward to retiring, but I’ve been more looking back at the friends I have made. I had to buy a car as I didn’t have a company car anymore - so of course I went for a Renault!

A devoted Scotland supporter he added: “I’ve booked to go to Poland in March and maybe Sydney in May.”

Jim is also a Falkirk fan, and the club’ commercial manager Alex Totten came along on Jim’s final day for his presentation.

Sales manager Graham Kerr will be sad to see Jim go.

He said: “He’s been here 38 years and he’s a great guy who would do anything for anyone. He’s got very loyal customers, some of them cried when they learned he was leaving because they’ve been dealing with him for so long.”
