A Falkirk businesswoman jets off to the United States today (Thursday) to teach Americans a thing or two about beauty pageants.
Lisa Wardlaw, who runs Belle of the Ball prom and evening wear suppliers in Bank Street, has spent the last few months organising the overseas event after running a similar successful training course locally.
January’s seminar in the Cladhan Hotel saw Steven Roddy of The Pageant Planet.com fly across the Atlantic to pass on tips to young Scottish women. Now Lisa is making the return trip to help him run a similar venture in Philadelphia.
She said: “It’s very exciting. As well as Steven doing the training, we will also have Miss Massachusetts taking part in a workshop. She has recently taken part in the Miss USA pageant, probably the biggest one in the world, and will be able to give lots of advice.
“However, the events are not just for those who want to be part of pageants. They’re about empowering young women and giving them confidence and life skills that they can put to use every day.”
