Falkirk High Street will lose its WH Smith store later this year when the business shuts down for good.
The firm confirmed the closure this week but could not give an exact date, although it is believed the premises will shut up shop some time in October – a month or so after Grangemouth says goodbye to its WH Smith branch in La Porte Precinct.

Doubts over the future of the Falkirk store were raised when a sign in the window of the Grangemouth branch stated the nearest WH Smith store would be located in Stirling.
A Falkirk Herald reader, who did not want to be named, said: “The sign saying that Stirling will be the nearest branch may well be correct. The Falkirk High street branch of WH Smith is planned for closure around October.
“Staff in the Falkirk shop are just waiting to be told when they go. This is not good news at all as WH Smith stock items that are not available elsewhere, at least not locally.”
A WH Smith spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the WH Smith store in Falkirk will close later this year. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue to trade viably from this location and the decision has been taken to close the store.”
