A care home catering manager has been nominated for a prize at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) awards.
David Blackwood, a regional catering manager for Meallmore Ltd from Falkirk, has been nominated in the Catering Manager Award category and will fight it out against three others at the ceremony in Nottingham in October.
Since joining the firm in 2013, David has been committed to sharing his passion for food across 21 care homes, by ensuring all staff understand the importance of good food and nutrition.
David said: “I’m extremely proud to be shortlisted for the NACC awards which celebrate the best in care catering across the UK. Food and nutrition play a central part in our residents’ lives, and we put a lot of work into making food enjoyable while ensuring our high standards are met and exceeded.
“I’d like to thank all my colleagues for supporting me since I joined in 2013, and hopefully they’ll keep everything crossed for me come October.”
Since opening its first care home, Meallmore Lodge in Inverness in 1987, Meallmore has grown to offer 21 private residential nursing and dementia care homes across Scotland.
