Firms can still enter this year’s new look Falkirk Herald Business Awards for a chance to win prizes and praise aplenty.

The always popular event is now sponsored by the Aurora Hotel Collection and has changed its venue to the award-winning Airth Castle Hotel, but it still has the same aim as year’s gone by – to recognises those companies and individuals who have worked hard to make their mark on the Falkirk district economy.

As the country comes out of the recession, the Falkirk area is already showing what it has to offer in both tourism, marketing and service industries. The growth of demand for incubator units is an indication of the number of people launching their own businesses.

The Falkirk Herald Business Awards 2015 is an ideal platform for firms new and old to showcase what they are doing.

Colin Hume, Falkirk Herald editor-in-chief, said: “Over the years, our business awards has attracted a high calibre of entries. The scope and variety of entrepreneurs and companies in this area never ceases to amaze me.

“It doesn’t make the judging any easier, but it is rewarding to know how many success stories there are locally.”

Entry is open to any business operating in the Falkirk Council area, whether it has been open a matter of months or is an established part of the local community, a sole trader or a large multi-national.

The categories for 2015 are:

Best Start-Up Business – less than two years old on August 1, 2015; Best Green Business; Best Independent Retailer; Best Tourism Business; Best Sales & Marketing – demonstrate the success of a sales or marketing campaign over the past 12 months; Best Growth Business; Best Social Enterprise; Best Business in the Community;

Best Small Business – turnover up to £500,000; Best Large Business – turnover over £500,000; Young Entrepreneur of the Year – open to all business people aged 35 or under on August 1, 2015; Employer of the Year.

Entrants can enter more than one category, but separate entry forms require to be completed and submitted for each one.

Those who successfully make the shortlist will be invited to the final judging round which will take place between October 26 and November 6.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 19, at Airth Castle Hotel.

Entry forms can be found online at or by calling (01324) 690222 for more information.
