Campaigning councillors have won a deal for neighbours who lost an early morning bus service.

Cecil Meiklejohn and David Alexander of the SNP stepped in after local operators First Bluebird withdrew the 8.33 a.m. 13 service through the Grahamston, Middlefield and Bog Road areas.

The move sparked complaints, but now it has been agreed to introduce a new service from next month that will run at 8.45 a.m.

Councillor Alexander welcomed the news. He said: “This service was extremely popular with town centre workers and those with early morning medical appointments so it was a big loss. While our preference was its reinstatement, the new service which will run 12 minutes later is a credible compromise.”

A spokesperson for First Bluebird said: “We can confirm Service 13 will be reintroduced from April 20 operating from Middlefield to Falkirk with the support of Falkirk Council.”
