Hotelier Steven McLeod admits completing his latest venture has proved to be a labour of love.
Work began on Hotel Colessio in the heart of Stirling over four years ago. It is planned the doors will finally open next month.
The luxury 40-bed hotel, the city’s first five-star establishment, is on the site of the former Stirling Royal Infirmary and will employ over 100 people
However, Steven admits that the opening is perfectly timed with the forthcoming Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup bringing an influx of visitors.
He said: “It is fair to say this has been one of the most challenging projects I have ever worked on for a number of reasons, from difficulties with some of the contractors to unforeseen problems during building and construction, all outwith my control.
“Ideally, I would have wanted to open Colessio before now, but I simply would not open the doors until I felt everything was perfect.”
As well as 40 bedrooms, the hotel has a bar, Grill Room restaurant and events suite for up to 300 guests.
