The young ladies of Shieldhill Brownies gathered in more than 200 pairs of pants for the Small for All charity, which helps young women in Africa.

The determined girls also raised £500 from a Christmas coffee morning and carol singing at the atrium of Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

The money will be split equally between Smalls for All and a little girl in the nearby village of California who has bilateral retinoblastoma.

Brownie Leader Elaine McDiarmid said: “We decided to collect pants to donate to Smalls for All to help girls and young woman in Africa who do not have any and are at risk of harm, as well as missing out on education at certain times of each term.

“We collected 213 pairs of pants to give to the charity’s Pam Peters when she came to talk to us about Smalls for All and that these would add to the 390,288 pairs already donated since the charity was started by Maria MacNamara in 2010.

“The Brownies had enormous fun designing their own ‘monster pants’, listening to the presentation and taking part in the About Smalls for All.”
