In under 10 years brothers Barrie and Scott Henderson have turned their dream into an award winning business.
Xtreme Karting has picked up accolades across the board, including being rated a five star tourist attraction by VisitScotland for their its facilities at Larbert and Newbridge.
Two years ago the pair were stunned when they won the Best Large Business category at The Falkirk Herald Business Awards 2011 – then went on to be named the Outstanding Achievement winners.
Their triumph came only three years after they had lifted the Best Small Business title at the same awards.
This week, managing director Barrie described the moment their name was announced: “It was an amazing feeling. We had just received the Best Large Business trophy and were still celebrating. I don’t think we even heard our names being called out.
“We were delighted to win. The awards recognise achievements in the local area and that can only be for the good.
“Everyone gets a boost from winning and it’s a great event to be part of.”
Barrie added that since the win they have added a combat option to their Newbridge centre which has been very well received.
He said; “We are delighted with the feedback we have received and are continuing to grow the business.
“Also, the recognition we received after our Outstanding Achievement win was fabulous.”
The awards are now underway and will return to the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel, Polmont on November 21 for the glittering ceremony when the winners for 2013 will be unveiled.
These are the fifth awards to be run by The Falkirk Herald and they are open to any business or organisation operating in Falkirk district.
