Parish Church

Last Sunday, the minister conducted the morning worship at 11 a.m. The monthly evening service resumed following the summer break at 6.30 p.m. and was led by the minister. This Sunday, the minister will conduct the Communion Services at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The Kirk Session will meet prior to these services at 10.30 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. The retiring collection at both these services will be for our Missionary Partners, the Duncans, in South Africa. Following the morning service there will be a signing up session in the Rankine Hall for anyone wishing to attend the Fellowship Groups which are planned to start, week beginning September 21. The Kirk Session will meet this Tuesday (September 16) at 7.45 p.m. in the Rankine Hall. The Guild’s next meeting is on Monday, September 15 at 7.30 p.m. when we will be entertained by ‘Sweet Harmony’ a local group of Barbershop singers. The first monthly afternoon meeting of the Session is on Monday, September 22 at 2 p.m. when the members of our own Church Choir will entertain us. A warm welcome is extended to all to both of these meetings. A Musical Evening for The Leprosy Mission Scotland by the 25th Stirling Boys’ Brigade Band is taking place on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Dumbarton Road, Stirling in aid of the Rehabilitation Centre at Bankura in India. All are welcome. Door duty this Sunday will be by Karen Fulton, Irene Cameron, Heather O’Neill, Robert Wilson, Malcolm Lewis and Keith Wansbrough. The crèche will be manned by Lesley Mann, Alistair McDonald and Mary Munro.

Friendship Plus

On the third Wednesday of each month a new group for seniors - Friendship Plus - for both men and women is commencing, meeting in the Rankine Hall of Brightons Parish Church from 2–4 p.m. The first meeting is on Wednesday, September 17 and costs £2 which includes refreshments. Robert Callahan will give a Powerpoint presentation and talk on his involvement with this year’s successful Commonwealth Games. We have several drivers who are willing to offer transport if needed. We look forward to meeting regular and new members for a time of fun and fellowship with a full programme of speakers, entertainment, lunches and day trip.
