Thank You

A huge thank you is extended to all in the Brightons area who contributed to our Christian Aid Week door-to-door collection. Brightons Parish Church, through your generosity, will be sending a cheque for over £2000 to Christian Aid - a wonderful sum! Our church, and the community in Brightons in general, can always be counted on for their unfailing generosity in helping others in need.

Parish Church

Last Sunday one of our elders, Elwyn Batt, led the worship at 11 a.m. assisted by Liz McKellar who gave the children’s and young peoples address, Ann McFarlane gave a talk on what motivates her working with children and Pat Paterson spoke on ‘My walk with God.’ The Praise Group and Choir sang African Psalm and King of Kings arranged by Rena Kennedy and words by Shirley Johnston. Jean Meek and Darren Jalland led the prayers and the scripture readings were by Sandra Anderson and Alan Macfarlane. During the service our thoughts and prayers were with the Heriot family, in particular daughter Heather and son Crawford following the passing of Reverend Charles Heriot who was minister in Brightons for almost 30 years, also Gillian McMillan and the family on the passing of her father-in-law and Catherine and David McIntosh and the families on the loss of Catherine’s sister. This Sunday, the minister will conduct the service at 11 a.m. In the evening the Fellowship Groups will lead our monthly evening service at 6.30 p.m. This is the last evening service until September. The Sunday School Fun Day and BBQ will take place on Saturday from 11.30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Church /Manse grounds. This invitation is extended to the family and friends of our Sunday School children and to the congregation. The next meeting of the Science and Faith will be on Sunday, June 14 in the Rankine Hall at 7 p.m. and the title is ‘Science and Ethics - interfering with nature’. Helena Glass’s World Challenge Coffee Morning last Saturday raised just over £1000 and she thanks everyone who supported her in any way at this event. Door duty this Sunday will be by Karen Fulton, Irene Cameron, Heather O’Neill, Robert Wilson, Norma Thompson and Keith Wansbrough. On crèche duty will be Gillian Beaton, Lorraine Campbell and Linzi Matheson.
