Masonic News

Since our last meeting a successful Hogmanay Bash was held within the Masonic Hall, Brightons to welcome in the new year. A great night was had by all and thanks to Alex Muir PM for organising the event which was very well attended. The next regular meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. when the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts etc and a First Degree. All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome.

Parish Church

Last Sunday, Rev. Danny Mathers, our Pastoral Assistant, led the worship at 11 a.m. This Sunday Ian Baillie, our Session Clerk, will conduct the worship at 11 a.m. The Sunday Schools, Triple S, Flaim and Wait for It will resume this Sunday following the Christmas break, all at their usual time of 10.50 a.m. The final total for the retiring collection at the Christmas services, Lessons and Carols evening service and the Mission Jars returned during December for the Christian Aid Appeal - ‘Deliver hope this Christmas’ - amounted to £1064.05. Many thanks to all who contributed. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the Small Hall at 7.45 p.m. The Guild’s first evening meeting of the new session is on Monday at 7. 30 p.m. The speaker is Rachel Meek who will tell us about the work of the Wycliffe Bible translators. A warm invitation is extended to everyone to join with us for what we are sure will be a very interesting evening. The Deacons’ Court will meet on Tuesday at 7.45 p.m. in the Rankine Hall. This will be followed by a meeting of the Kirk Session at 8.45 p.m. also in the Rankine Hall. There will be the regular Prayer time prior to these meetings at 7.15 p.m. in the small hall, open to all Deacons and Elders. All organisations and groups are reminded that their books should be submitted to the treasurer, Jeremy Clarke, for the annual audit by Sunday, January 18. Door duty this Sunday will be by Moira Alexander, Gordon Scott, Malcolm Little, Margaret Scott, Jessie Wallace and Jean Meek. The crèche will be manned by Lorraine Campbell, Annette Filby and Gillian Hunter.

Zumba Classes

Zumba with Pauline has two classes to choose from in the area - Tuesdays at 7-8 p.m., Braes High School or Wednesdays at 8.15-9 p.m., Brightons Community Centre. No need to book, just wear suitable footwear and bring water. For further info please e-mail
