Step Forth

Like to walk but not on your own? Want to get fit but don’t know where to start? Why not join our walking group and meet new friends. Parish Church

Last Sunday the minister, Reverend Murdo Campbell, led the worship at the closing parade for the uniformed organisations. Kirstin Bell from the Girls’ Brigade read the lesson and Adam Smith and James Elliott from the Boys’ Brigade led the prayers. During the service the minister assisted by Beth Young, Divisional Commissioner, Girls’ Brigade Central Region, undertook the commissioning of Lorraine Campbell and Christina Mason as Girls’ Brigade Officers. A Queen’s Badge presentation was made to Jordan Bryce, the latest Boys’ Brigade member to receive this award. Maggy Dick assisted by Andy Gillespie spoke about the plans for ‘Holiday Club 2014’ taking place from August 11-15 from 6.15 -7.45 p.m. in the church and the halls. This Sunday, the minister will conduct the service at 11 a.m. Tonight (Thursday), the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the Small Hall at 7.45 p.m. A warm invitation is extended to everyone to come along to this time of prayerful fellowship. The minister will lead an Open Door (Enquirers) course, for those interested in exploring the Christian Faith with a view to church membership, or wishing to revisit the basics of faith commencing on Wednesday, April 16 in the vestry at 7.30 p.m. For further details contact the Minister or the Session Clerk. Door duty this Sunday will be by Moira Alexander, Maralyn Stirling, Margaret Scott, Jessie Wallace, Jean Meek and Jim Stirling. The creche will be manned by Alison Cassells, Dorothy McDonald and Mary Munro.

Masonic News

A full house at Lodge Polmont No 793 on Wednesday, March 26 witnessed an excellent Third Degree, expertly conferred by the Past Masters of the Lodge. There were visitors from 22 lodges among the brethren present including a deputation from Cheshire and North Wales led by the Loyal City Lodge No 4839EC. The next meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday, April 9 at 7.15 p.m. This is the annual visitation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire and the business of the evening will be Minutes, Accounts and a Third Degree. All qualified brethren and visitors will be made most welcome.
