Bonnybridge Library set to be a big hit on Greenscreen

The cash from the Carnegie UK Trust will help fund its History in Action on the Screen project which will create short films about the history of the area through members of the community.

Naomi Kenny, Librarian of Bonnybridge Library, will lead the project and as part of the Library Lab initiative will also have access to a new online learning programme first developed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

She will also have a mentor and be given the opportunity to take part in networking and learning events.

Ms Kenny said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have received funding from the Trust.

“The idea behind making the films is to bring our local history alive and allow us to promote our fantastic array of resources, as well as showcase the library as a social space for intergenerational activity. Any films made will be screened in the library for the enjoyment of our visitors.

“We are looking forward to working with young people and volunteer community groups to get the filming process in motion!”

The library is one of six winners to receive funding of between £5000 and £15,000 to develop their library project as part of the Carnegie UK Trust’s Library Lab initiative which supports innovation and leadership in the public library sector.

This is the second and final round of Library Lab funding to be made available by the Trust.
