Bo'ness driver six times over the legal limit

Sheriff Craig Caldwell had to deal with one driver who was more than six times over the legal drink drive limit while he had a young child in the car, another who was almost six times over and one who was three times over the limit in a busy shopping area.

Paul McCafferty (40), 28 Deanfield Drive, Bo’ness, admitted drink driving in Dorrator Road, Camelon, on December 14 last year. He gave a reading of 133 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 22 microgrammes.

Sheriff Caldwell said: “You were six times over the limit and should have been nowhere near a car, never mind driving it with a young child in the back – it was extremely dangerous and stupid.”

McCafferty was banned from driving for four years and placed on a 12-month supervised community payback order with the condition he attend alcohol treatment and complete 150 hours unpaid work in the community in that time.

James MacDonald (31), 9 Ochilview Place, Bo’ness, pleaded guilty to drink driving in Ladysmill, Falkirk, on December 6, last year with a reading of 122 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

MacDonald was disqualified for four years and placed on an eight-month community payback order with the condition he complete 150 hours unpaid work.

Ryszard Oluszczak (38) was guilty of driving at the Tesco Store, Main Street, Bo’ness , on June 11, 2014, when he gave a reading of 99 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit at that time was 35 microgrammes.

Oluszczack, 83 Corbiehall, Bo’ness, was banned from the road for two years and placed on a six-month community payback order with the condition he complete 150 hours of unpaid community work within that time.
