Police are appealing for help to trace the pair who defrauded the pensioner out of a three figure sum.

The two men turned up at a property in George Street, Larbert around 12.30pm on Wednesday, December 16 offering to carry out repairs.

The women handed over the money she had been saving to buy Christmas gifts.

However, the men left without completing any of the work.

They were seen leaving the area in a silver Ford transit van.

Both men, who had Scottish accents, were described as around 30 years of age. One was around 5ft 7ins, slim build, bald and wearing glasses. He wore a high visibility jacket with a blue gillet on top. The other is around 6ft 4ins, well built with short dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and a dark baseball cap.

Larbert Community Sergeant Ally Goldie said: “This is a despicable crime which has targeted a vulnerable elderly member of the community so close to Christmas.

“Please keep a look out for vulnerable neighbours and if you see anyone hanging around their homes then contact police immediately.”
