An investigation was launched after Joanne Walker was reported missing from her home in Tillicoultry on Saturday, having last been seen in the town around 10pm on Friday.

Police have informed the 54-year-old’s family of the discovery of a body in Tillicoultry Quarry.

A spokeswoman said: “Officers can confirm that the body of a woman was found in Tillicoultry Quarry around 3.30pm on Sunday, July 12.

“The family of local missing woman Joanne Walker, missing since Saturday, July 11, have been made aware of the discovery.

“Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
