Bike bid to raise £3000

A Stenhousemuir pensioner and Rotarian is bidding to raise thousands of pounds for a cancer charity.

Ken Drummond (66) is to cycle round the Scottish Borders to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK’s Men United movement.

Ken is hoping to raise over £3000 by cycling from the north to the south of Rotary International District 1020 from Stenhousemuir to Kirkcudbright and back, a distance of approximately 450 miles, between May 23 and June 1. He will be supported by Vale of Carron Rotary Club of which he is currently president.

Ken was inspired to take on this challenge for Prostate Cancer UK after discovering a family member and some men he knows have prostate cancer. Prostate Cancer UK is also a charity supported by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland this year.

Ken said: “I decided to organise this challenge because we need to raise the awareness among men about prostate cancer and because a family member and some people I know have contracted the disease.

‘‘If this event prevents just one man from dying of the disease then it will have been worthwhile.”

“I am looking forward to the challenge and I’m delighted to be raising awareness and much needed money to help beat prostate cancer.”
