Anne Dickson, admin officer at BB HQ at Carronvale, retired at the end of August after 25 years’ service.
A reception for her was held there on August 21 where her replacement, Rhona Drummond, from Bo’ness, was introduced.
All attending showed the regard in which Anne is held. It included previous directors Hasley Moore, Ian McLachlan and Tom Boyle; former president John Neil; Brigade vice-president Alister Burroughs; current director Bill Stevenson; and Scotland Committee chairman David Sneddon, who made a presentation to Anne.
Also attending was Paul O’Shea from Coatbridge, the new development officer for Lanarkshire, as well as two BB members from New Zealand, attending the Global Fellowship events.
Good weather allowed mingling on the lawn with entertainment from a 24 piece orchestra from the Music Academy of Versailles, on holiday at Carronvale.
Skipper of 2nd Bo’ness, Walter Williamson (St Andrew’s Church), is preparing material to train Seniors, offering ‘building blocks’ to prepare for entry into working life, including writing CVs, testing carried out by employers and interview techniques; useful skills for school leavers.
The Company Committee met for the first time this session and welcomed past Battalion secretary (1984-94), Jim Goldie, as chairman. There was a good attendance which engendered discussion as well as hearing of competition arrangements for the session ahead. News of two new five-a-side football trophies donated by the Co-operative Funeral Care Service was well received and they will be presented on the first suitable occasion.
