Bainsford flat fire started by electrical appliance

A flat was “extensively damaged” after a fire broke out within a bedroom.

The blaze took hold at a property in Haugh Street, Bainsford last Thursday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 7.50pm and an electrical appliance was discovered to be the source of the fire, police have confirmed.

No-one was in the flat at the time, however, the Scottish Ambulance Service provided oxygen to neighbours due to smoke inhalation.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances to contain the blaze, which isn’t being treated as suspicious.
