Parish Church

On Sunday, there will be a joint service of worship with St James Parish Church which will be held in Bainsford Parish Church at 11 a.m. Rev. Andrew Sarle will be in attendance. Tea and coffee will be served in the hall after the service. The Traditional Watchnight Service will be at 11.30 p.m. preceded by refreshments and carols from 11 p.m. and will be conducted by the Rev. Andrew Sarle. On Sunday, January 4, at 11.15 a.m. there will be a joint service at St James Parish Church. Please note the later start time. There will be no service at Bainsford for that Sunday only. Last Sunday, a service with the theme being “ A mixture of readings and carols - A set of alternative views of Christmas” took place in Bainsford. With readings and prayers given by members of the congregation namely - David Downie, Jim Irvine, Charlie Kirkwood, Bill Mochrie, Ian Slater, Jim Slater, Bunty Watson and Alex Watson.

Club Break

The Job Drop in Club which meets every Wednesday in the Dawson Centre has finished and will re-start on Wednesday, January 8, from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. For any information, contact Alan Blad on (01324) 501470.

Brahg News

Bainsford Reminiscence and Heritage Group (BRAHG), which meets every Wednesday from 10-11.30 a.m. in The Sub (opposite the Dawson Centre), will restart on Wednesday, January 14. For any information, contact Sarah Stow on (01324) 501462 or (01324) 510470.

Farewell Mrs Patrick

Last Wednesday, at Langlees Primary School the pupils, staff, parents and friends attended a special assembly to mark the retirement of Mrs Janeine Patrick, who has been Head Teacher for 15 years. Mrs Margot McVicar, Depute Head Teacher welcomed the gathering, this was followed by the choir singing, ‘So Long, Farewell’. Two pupils on behalf of the school, presented Mrs Patrick with a bouquet of flowers and a gift, after which Mrs Cairns and Mrs Scott, former teachers at Langlees and now living in Australia, sent a video link message wishing Mrs Patrick a happy retirement. The pupils then sang the school song ‘Song of Blessing’. The following presentations were made; A basketball signed by the basketball team, a canvas painting with the words ‘Live every moment; Love beyond words; Laugh every day’ depicted on it. The Parent Council presented a suitable gift, followed by the staff singing ‘Stay another day’. Mrs McVicar wished Mrs Patrick all the best, saying that it has been a pleasure working with her. Mrs Patrick said that the Langlees children were amazing, and that they must never give up, and keep on trying. Mrs Patrick also said that she has had 15 fabulous years working with the parents and staff. In closing she thanked everyone for the many gifts which she has received.

Braveheart Walks

Devoted Dawson walkers meet every Wednesday outside Carron Co-op main entrance to start their walk at 10.30 a.m, finishing an hour later in Greggs for tea and a cake. Head along and find out which route you will take this week. Walk will be off on Wednesday, December 24 and 31; feel free to still go a walk if you wish.
