THE PARENTS: Mum Gemma (33), from Larbert and dad, David (28) from Coventry, live in Penistone. Gemma teaches at the village primary school and David works with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Keir is their first child.

THE PREGNANCY: Loved it! Gemma kept well and it was very straightforward with only a bit of nausea in the early days.

THE BIRTH: Gemma was looking forward to a water birth after using ‘Wise Hippo’ hypnobirthing, Keir however made his arrival four days early via an emergency c section! But both mum and baby were very well looked after and mum and dad stayed calm throughout – which is what the programme is all about!

THE BABY: Keir is a dream baby, very sociable and eating and sleeping well.

THE NAME: Well suited as in Gaelic it means dusky, dark haired which he is! Keir was a name the couple liked - and one of the few we agreed on. The Andrew is after Gemma’s grandad.

THANKS: Everyone at Barnsley Hospital, both sets of grandparents who have been amazing, friends and family far and wide who have visited or sent best wishes and gifts and Hayley Cattell Photography.
