The birth of Lomond Silcock

THE PARENTS: Mum Caryss Taylor (30) works at Dorothy Perkins in Falkirk, and dad Jamie Silcock (33) is a digital support officer at Standard Life in Edinburgh. Lomond is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Falkirk.

THE BIRTH: Baby was three days early. Jamie and Caryss had been out for a curry the night before, and Caryss started feeling some twinges in the early hours. She got to hospital around 8.30 a.m. and dad was there for the birth that afternoon.

THE BABY: He’s a fantastic baby. He is putting on weight and is very content. Like dad, he loves John Lennon’s ‘Beautiful Boy’ which always gets him to sleep.

THE NAME: The couple had considered ‘Lachlan’, but Caryss was worried it would sound too American. They later settled on ‘Lomond’ long before the baby was born. ‘William’ is after Jamie’s dad.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Lomond is a first grandchild for Lesley and William Silcock of Stenhousemuir, and a sixth for Eleanor and Alistair Taylor of Stenhousemuir. He’s also a great grandson for Scott and Margaret Binnie.

THANKS: Thanks go to family, friends and the fantastic midwives.
