Argos has confirmed that it is shutting one its stores in Falkirk.
The retailer will close the Howgate Shopping Centre outlet on Friday but is making every attempt to re-deploy all the staff.
Suzanne Arkinson, general manager at the Howgate, said: “This was the end of a 25-year lease, and I think it’s not a surprise considering there’s another Argos in the town.
“I understand that the staff have been offered positions in other stores or taken voluntary redundancy.
‘‘Our new owners, Ellandi, are seeing this as an opportunities to bring in a new mix of tenants.”
An Argos spokeswoman said: “Argos remains committed to Falkirk. Customers can continue to shop at the nearby Central Retail Park store.”
