When Laura and Charlie Gallacher moved into the Coach House in Falkirk’s Kilns Road it was full of dark wood and old-fashioned styling.
Seven years on, the house is practically unrecognisable having been transformed into what is now a contemporary family home.
Laura said: “We have built a big extension onto the house at the back of the house and put in a new kitchen – before it was a really narrow galley. We’ve also put in a new staircase, bathroom ... everything has been redone.”
The property is right next to Dollar Park but its location is quiet and very private.
The lounge has stunning french doors which open up into the fully enclosed private gardens, making it perfect for a family.
The glass extension won an award for its design when it was constructed. It is currently used as a sitting/breakfasting room, but the property is so versatile the rooms could be used for a variety of purposes.
There is also a dining room, modern fitted kitchen and a large reception hall, of which the staircase is a great feature. Upstairs are three bedrooms, with an en suite in the master. There are seven Velux windows in the roof which keep the top floor flooded with light.
Now the family has expanded to include two children, Laura and Charlie are hoping to take on a similar project again, but on an even bigger scale.
Laura added: “It was a real struggle to decide to move – it’s in such a great location and we are so central for everything.
“It has been a really great place to live.”
