With a gorgeous rural setting, just a few miles from a choice of towns or even cities, this lovely four-bedroomed bungalow, off the Moss Road, offers the best of both worlds.
Owner David McKeown says it made an ideal family home when his children were growing up. And, as the family grew and changed, so did the house.
Over the years he has added two extensions, one that created a huge master bedroom which is almost a self-contained area in its own right, with a sizeable sitting room leading on to a gym/office area and a stunning en suite.
Another addition was the games room, complete with snooker table, which was a particular favourite with David.
“I would work long hours, come home and chill out there for a while,’’ he said. ‘‘It’s also great for teenage children who want their own space – it means mum can watch the telly in peace!”
The family has not lived in the house for the past four years or so, but far from being allowed to fall into disrepair the house has been completely redecorated with new rendering outside.
David has also had a £35,000 driveway laid. It has a secure, electronic gateway for security and privacy.
The elegant conservatory has a focal point in a seven kilowatt log burner, built round the chimney of the original house.
“It’s a fantastic place for entertaining – especially at Christmas. The log burner is beautiful when it’s lit. There’s nothing artificial about it,” says David.
Like the other rooms, the modern kitchen is extremely spacious, comfortably holding a dining table and chairs. It also has French doors that open out on to the beautiful, mature gardens.
Indeed, one of the house’s main attractions is the way in which several of the rooms have French doors that open onto the lovely garden.
The master bedroom and a bedroom off the games room, both have French doors and are en-suite, while a third bedroom also opens out onto the garden. The elegant family bathroom boasts a roll top cast iron bath and separate shower.
The garden itself is mature and beautifully landscaped, complementing the lovely surroundings.
“It’s a great place to bring up children,” said David. “The forest is right next to us and there are beautiful walks, and yet it’s just a few miles to Larbert or Stirling and only 25 minutes to Glasgow or Edinburgh.”
