Stenhousemuir house in perfect position for number four

Despite this house being more than 100 years old, incredibly it’s only had three owners.

Ronnie McLean, who currently lives there with partner Audrey, has been in situ for over 20 years.

But, when he first bought the home in Main Street, Stenhousemuir, it was in a much poorer condition
than the attractive,
open-plan, two-bedroom semi it is today.

Ronnie said: “It was almost derelict.

“The first owners had lived in the house all their lives and then their daughter inherited it.

‘‘She was there until she was into her 90s and really only used the one room.

“I was quite keen to take on the project of renovating it, so we re-wired it and put in double glazing.

‘‘Over the years we’ve added a double garage and a conservatory.”

Even with all the work the couple have done in the house, they still love some of its original aspects and features.

Ronnie said: “We were first attracted to the tradional build of the house, the huge garden and the driveway.

“I lived in a flat before so it was great to have so much space.

“The downstairs is a great feature of the house. It’s open-plan and, since we’ve added the conservatory, we now have our Christmas dinner in there.”

The couple are now looking for a detached property with a bit of land, but are hoping to stay in the area.

The property at 166 Main Street in Stenhousemuir is on the market with Russel + Aitken at the fixed price of £185,000. For more information, contact (01324) 626107
